Day 16 Sep 6, 2012
Miles 3 miles
Total 45.6
Goal for now 100
What
a beautiful warm sunny day. The humidity was high but things look spring like.
I walked my 3 miles but things almost look spring like except for several dead
trees and bushes which is a reminder of the price of this terrible drought. We
got some more rain yesterday and I almost feel sure the drought is behind us. I feel so blessed to be able to be out here in
the park and see nature as it is. I can feel fall is just waiting for a chance
to start its wonder.
I
love the different fungus I see every time I’m out. I think I will take on the
chore of mapping Williams Park woods. I have the main trails down pat and just
went on a trail that was added last year. It has wood steps and a bridge and
was put in by a Boy Scout troop. It adds just a little adventure and exercise
to the whole thing.
This
whole thing started with reading a free book to my Kendal about a man walking
the Applications trail. It lead me to a fun web site that allows you to read journals
of thru-hikers of the trail I have been following and it keeps me energized to
keep going on my week replica of this hike. I decided I would add the link to
this journal so I and anyone can enjoy them. http://www.trailjournals.com/entry.cfm?id=391833
