Goal for now 500
This spot is where I enter Williams Park and what a
difference a few weeks can make. These pictures were from about the
middle of August, to the Middle October 14 and the last picture on the right was
October 27. I’ve said it before but saying it again won’t hurt anything, I have
so loved closely watching the season change. I hope to keep a record of those
changes from fall, early winter, winter and spring. This all goes back to my
entry a few days ago about the fact that God could have created earth anyway he
wanted. The fact he choose to have a change of season surly has some Godly
purpose.
As I completed my last goal and am half way through
my second (100 mile segments) I at first feel great satisfaction. Goals keep us
energized. But here is just form me my own observation. After enjoying the high
of completing a goal, I seem to have a problem of restarting. Here is an example, when I completed the 100
mile mark I just jumped for joy. As I neared it I began to put more and more
effort into it. But after completing it my next week seem slow. I know the
weather had some effect but it seem more than that. I personally believe I was
too into my own accomplishment. So it seems for me goals can be powerful but
also at times brings out a weakness. The weakness may be that of being too into
myself and my achievements.
What could be the main solution, it finally came to
me. Keep your eye on the full Goal and the purpose for setting it in the first
place. I found that most of these lessons learned while walking with Jesus can
also apply to my whole life walk with the Lord. In our daily life when we
succeed at something we often are overly proud of ourselves and before long we
are lagging on the job. But if we keep our eyes on Jesus the final goal and the
purpose God set us on this life walk we will see and feel success but only
because of Gods helpful hand and also we will quickly pick up after a success
and keep on to the ultimate goal of our heavenly home.
Can you believe it, all this from just a little walk
in the woods. Well there was time marveling at Gods creation. I saw two downy
woodpeckers working together on a tree. I hope to keep watching for them. As I
show with pictures as I started today, the woods is changing quickly. It was
rather cool and especially windy but the sun was bright and left the woods with
warm colors. I have been wonder why, when God created trees that he created
some where the leaves fall quickly but others will remain on till spring.
Varity should be some of the reason but of course who knows the mind of God.
The second interesting fact that all though most vegetation and leaves die
there will be some for the entire winter green. Amazing don’t you think.
This week for the first time I accomplished what I
thought was an acceptable guide for a total weeks walk. I said 20 miles but
have never really completed 20 miles in a week. But this week was a complete
success 26 miles was my total number. Ok this felt like a real success but
Monday must be a new week and new determination to complete walking 500 miles
with Jesus buy April 1.
