Eph 1:3&4 Is just one of those verses. I have always been a very visual person and one who believes Gods word is literal true. That is why the words of Ephesians just stunned me.
Here they are.
Eph. 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with EVERY spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.
4. Just as He CHOSE us in Him BEFORE the foundation of the world that we should be holy and blameless before Him.
I have put in Caps the words that should cause you to stop and pause as well. Lets look very closely at the three words here, Before, Chosen, Every. They are rather ordinary words when viewed by themselves. The first one, before. is just the most amazing and also the hardest to believe statement. It is also the cause of the picture that came to my mind. Before there was a earth, sky or absolutely any thing The great I Am thought of creating a person named me. Yes even a person named you,
As I read this the image above instantly came to mind. My quick belief in this statement comes from years learning to trust all things in Gods words. Try to close your eyes an realize a time before time, a time of a choosing process that took place. What else could this word "chose" imply. I don't want to get bogged down in theology. Its just some how because of Gods good and loving kindness he chose me, why I can't begin to explain accept because of his grace.
1 Corinthians 1:26-29 begins to give us a bit of understanding of why he would chose such a undeserving person as myself and I guarantee it had nothing to do with any good thing in me.
Now to the last word I put in caps that just blew me away is the fact that God has given me access to EVERY, I SAY EVERY spiritual blessing found in heaven. Everyone, can you believe it, everyone has been given the tools to accomplish the task we were created for. Let me say this again, there is no excuse for my not being able to complete the plans he has for me. If I am to believe this is true, than why do I not use them. Also why would he do this, is a very good question. At least one reason is given, so that I would be holy (separate or different) and blameless. Now these reason could start me on a whole different visual journey of searching for the how of becoming holy and blameless. Maybe a new picture will come to me. But at the very least we, those who believe Jesus is the son of God and our Lord and Savior need to be on the search of how to do just this, I mean being holy and also blameless. It may take our whole life but the search will be worth the journey.
So here is a question I often ask myself at most bible reading session. What if this were really true. Do you believe it is as I do? Then why in the name of heaven do we not act like it.
I plan to try and move forward knowing that I am chosen by the great I AM, Creator of the Universe and have been given a purpose or mission to complete. So I will get about the business of understand and completing this mission so I can be on my way Home, my real home.
